Bethesda softworks and Bethesda game studios are different. Bgs is run by todd Howard, bs is a publisher.
The thing about it needing to download more after putting in the disc, all games have been doing that and it's annoying as hell
The focus on glory kills ruined the game for me. Looks cool a couple of times, but making it such a central part of the gameplay was a huge mistake. It just unnecessarily interrupts the gameplay flow over and over again and really only lets you play in between them while in close combat. The chainsaw basically doesnt let you play at all.

I love your reviews
My only complaint with this review is that he glazed over the fact that the rune challenges ACTUALLY gave you something good. Hell, I have found a way to have INFINTE FUCKING AMMO ALL THE TIME with the correct way of using runes. Sure, half of them I never used, and I wholeheartedly agree that they were tedious. I found myself raging over one before I knew it. Still, I'm not sure if it was because he didn't want to spoil it or something else. Regardless, I had beaten the game before I saw this review and I do agree with most of it. Well, minus the "shouldn't call it a Doom game" thing, but hey, what can I say? I never actually played the original 3 games, but I look forward to eventually being able to play them. Besides, Doom (2016) is one of my favorite games of all time. I had a lot of fun with it. Someone else's opinion is their opinion. If they liked, then let's praise it together, shall we?
Boi, how weak is your gpu
check out the mod zion for gzdoom its basically 2016 in 1993
WTF m8 you said It wouldn't change anything if it was called something else. Umm… So why fucking change it? Logic are you in there?
Doom reboot, not Doom Remake! They've taken the base and core gameplay while rebooting the whole elementa and stories in the game
What about the fucking music????
Has to be one of the funnest times I ever had with a game before …
Every weapon in the game feels so weak is ridiculous
The people who dislike doom 4 are mortally challenged.
P.s. don't kill me.
I do agree the mouse and keyboard is definitely better than a gamepad but I will say this game plays very well on a gamepad. It takes more practice but it's one of the smoother and more consistent experiences I've had in a while. Except trying to melee an enemy and doomguy just jukes around and misses lol.
I know why double jumping was disturbing to you and felt out of place ……in original DOOM you couldnt jump.
this was one of my first Xbox One games and it was bloody fun. I’m surprised the aussie media and government here didn’t go apeshit about how violent it is like what they have been doing with fortnite
Can't believe he's not using the option to have the gun in the Center of the screen
anyone else craving a Reuben after watching this?
What do you mean performance it's one of the most balanced games I've played.
This game looks amazing. It plays so well. I really enjoy the frenetic pace, even though I prefer slower games these days. But the developers got it right.
I’m surprised you didn’t bring up one of the best parts, THE MUSIC!!
Dog why are you not using the classic aiming mode. C'mon man
I’m hyped for DOOM Eternal!!
Whos playing this in 2018, ultra violence, classic centered weapon and no glory kill indicator?
i know im kinda late but.. it had great perfomance for me i have an older amd apu with 1060 and i got 80-120 fps on ultra and vulcan api
Subbed
I die inside a little whenever you don't glory kill an enemy, and just shoot them T_T
The plasma gun stun bomb is absolutely essential on nightmare. It feels like some of the fights are way more fair when you stun certain enemies.
And lack of mods… Ouch. FFS call of duty of the same year had full fledged editor and mod support. Also it plays more like Painkiller than original Doom – with abundance of all locked arenas and jumping around and such, and it kinda feels weird sometimes to call it Doom. I also don't like half of the new enemies designs, they don't look menacing (like Pinky, ffs pathetic). Even Doom 3 at moments of action felt more like Doom game than Doom 2016 – you just explore and shoot stuff, when in 2016 it's all about locked arenas. I mean Doom 3 obviously took original inspiration for Doom (it was supposed to be a horror FPS) and mix-matched it with fast paced gunplay in tight environments. I love Doom 2016, but it doesn't plays like Doom game, it doesn't feels like one. It's great throwback to classics, but it's no Doom. Also they hide regenerating health into glory kills system, which is smart move that fits the theme. Also I quite dislike their approach 'by the numbers' to secrets and unlocks – always the same thing, new map – same secrets and unlocks, rinse and repeat. I'd wanted true exploration where you searching for something interesting, instead of searching for 'the same fucking toy every level has'. So I don't see at as best game ever, there is tons of issues, but it's awesome game. It's just no Doom game somehow.
Use vulkan to get 2x the frame rate
But i like the multiplayer…..
you wasted a quad damage on chainsaw kills?!?!?
wait, you fight goombas in Mario, how could you?
Meh, the game's ost didn't scream "Doom" to me, and no, Rip and Tear, BFG Division and the remix of e1m1 that you hear in the tutorial aren't enough for this type of game. Dusk gets it right, Amid Evil gets it right (Andrew Hulshult knows what works with this type of FPS games), so why Doom 4 couldn't get it right?. The "at doom's gate" (there are two versions of this song in the game) version of this game sounds like electronic garbage like dupstep, and yet people praise it, which makes me wonder, did they even play the original doom and doom 2?, because aside from those rock songs, they also had songs like "sinister" which were menacing, Doom 4 lacks that. If you want to say something to me, do it, but avoid saying insults.
AH!!! HE SAID IT!! HE SAID IT!!!
I know this is super late, but I had some problems with this video. I overall very much enjoyed the review but some of your points warrant some criticism:
1. Your complaints about check points is kinda dumb to me. I get that it's frustrating to redo battles, but at least there's checkpoints at all. And saying that having checkpoints in a doom game is "sacrilege"? That was just… wrong. Would you honestly rather have the levels start over? Maybe that was a joke, I dunno.
2. This game shouldn't have been some simple doom clone. What you're saying that the old doom games are so classic with so many modders that they should never ever make sequels: what? That's like if a sequel was never made for the first Mario, that's ridiculous to me. The point of a sequel is to bring more of that original gameplay, with some changes to make the game unique. Not everyone cares about mods, and I would certainly never want them to be the only thing keeping a series I love alive forever.
3. Adding onto my last point, complaining that a reboot wasn't necessary was also kinda dumb. The only way this game is a reboot is in its story: a factor of the game that 99% of players will ignore. This ain't a movie reboot, where the plot restarting could actually cause some damage, and it's not even a story heavy series. It's DOOM. So who really cares?
Damn. This is the best review of reboot Doom I've seen. I don't hate it, its a good game but it isn't Doom.
I'm guessing you made the mistake of running the game in OpenGL, because if you run it on Vulkan, it performs much much better. I have only a i5 3300 and a GTX 970 and am running it on max settings at 1080p and it's buttery smooth. No frame rate drops, no tearing. OpenGL I'm lucky to get 40fps unless I drop the settings.
If you wish to lose faith in humanity, check out the SJWs' retarded rant concerning Doom eternal.
DONT BUY*
Trust me refunded that game
When this came out i loved it. I still love it. Probably more so. Great game.
+Gggmanlives you hyped for DOOM Eternal?
Looking forward to DOOM Eternal and your review, GGG-Man
Fantastic review as always. I finally got around to playing this game, and it's superb, but the checkpoint system is absolute bullsh*t. it would have been fantastic had the developers included a manual save system instead. The hell levels are stunning though, and really well thought out, and I just wish there was more hell levels. But at least we got more hell levels than Doom 3.
