Playstation 4 (PS4) Power Supply Replaced (Attempted to fix the power on then off issue but no luck)
December 10, 2017 1 min read
PS4 turns on then shuts off. I ordered a replacement power supply for it, but it didn’t solve the problem. I opened the PS4 ruining my warranty, but I don’t mind.

Myne ust shutoff left pressed until beep twice to go into safe mode intialised full install of system firmware
for fix this issue you just have to trow up into the bin and then buy a xbox one s
IT could be the cord bro the power cord
All u need to do is hold the power button till u hear a double beap
you need washer fix buy 4 washer take off the big lid then unscrew the wing thing then put two washers under each of the holes and screw i it back on and it should work if not then you need a new power supply
When you press the power button the mainboard chipset sends a signal to the bios and graphics card to wake up and start doing stuff. The bios checks all settings are fine and the graphics card draws an image on the screen . If you get to the point where there is no image then you need to reflow the graphics card.
Looks like a graphics card fault to me…
i think the 2 pins that the power supply contact to from the mother board are fried bud
can anyone tell me the name of the connector that connects the powersupply to the motherboard?
Two days ago my ps4 became an expensive door stopper and no longer turns on. I also lost my receipt from target. Also it's the lasted model 12xx Fml
So what's do I need to replace . Mine doin the same shit
Same problem with mine as well. Thanks Sony for F*&king us and taking our money. I read somewhere that the APU has poor soldering at the joints and that contributes to this problem, most likely the power supply may be good. The issue is that the APU is soldered onto the board in such a way that it's extremely difficult to work with. Replacement may be the only option, but I don't know if Sony or any other company is manufacturing replacement APU and boards as yet.
my ps4 doesnt do anything no lights beeps or anything

You should have inserted a disc and it would have turned on.
Anyone selling a ps4 powersupply for $10-$40
Spurs tho 🙌
what is the name of the cord he plugged into the ps4 power supply at 1:11
Thanks Sony another red ring of death….MADE IN CHINA IS THE PROBLEM
You have to reball the APU to fix this. It's not a power supply issue 90% of the time
cook it
My ps4 has the same issue! It started after I lost power to my house while the console was on. An seems to get worse to where now here I am looking it up.
You can reset the fDsIm34 switch on the board using a ratchet tool and starting up safe mode 534 error code and revert back to play mode at the end of systemups congifuration And launch srhxsm.bat file
save ur money i have replaced it NO CHANGE
My PlayStation started doing this the other day. I played cod earlier the day it did it, I had no problems with it during the time I was playing. I cut it off as usual about 5 hours late i go back to watch Netflix and it wouldn't cut on. I have to press the power button twice before it even attempt to cut on. When it does cut on it stays on for like 2 seconds then cuts right back off. I took the cover off the back of the ps4 and pushed down on it, that does not work. My ps4 is on just long enough for the fan to turn on before it shuts off. I also noticed when i have the power cord plugged in if i get real close to the back of ps4 you can hear a slight whining of the psu, could it be the psu that is faulty or something else?
Why would you buy a new PSU? don't you have a voltage tester to run on the PSU? before buying a new one. 90% of the time if the system powers an not boots it's not the PSU.
any new solutions?
Same is happening to mine
I have that problem by mine poped I saw the huge flash come out it and its smelled like smoke and I heard the loud pop
Thank you all for your feedback. I winded up just purchasing a new PS4. I do have experience in reflows with computer motherboards and game consoles such as the PS3 and XBOX 360 and always had success. I use a reflow workstation called a T806++. I tried reflowing the PS4 GPU after trying a new power supply. I used flux and went higher and higher on the temperature each time it would still give me the same problem and still had no luck.
Plain and simple do not buy a power supply or fan. Most likely this will not fix the problem.
Hopefully I can find a solution soon.

Chris finlayson does replacing the fan permanently fix it ? I seen a video of someone clamping it, are you sure it's not the motherboard
The issue I have with mine is it wont power on when the cable is plugged into the unit's power port in weird way and often times it doesnt work.
