Thank you for this tutorial! I have worked through this with my daughter, who is really getting into coding, and it was easy to follow and fun! 🙂👍
For some reason the ghost effect on the hitbox didn't work so I just made the hitbox sprite half the width and height since the character sprite is on a closer layer anyways.

make a 2d platformer please.
Great stuff! However, it would probably be better yet not to rely on forever loops and if blocks that much. Maybe it's something I don't get about scratch, but does it not provide its own event loop? With those "when [some key] is pressed"-nodes and such?
Great vid doh
Basics… more like controles plus graphic perfetions
mine still touches the house
Thank you so much! Super helpful!
Hey, the code at 6:53 doesn't work….the sprite goes right through the house instead of stopping
Thanks for the tutorial im making an rpg on scratch
don't use if else statements like that or movement will be wonky
This is why I love scratch
The way i do about the layering and collision of the object is,
Calculate the y axis of the player and the object sprite. If one is higher than the other then it will be ordered back.
For the hitbox part i make the hitbox then make it so that it will clone the object on it.
