A playthrough of “The Pit” (Level 39) of Doom for Playstation. This is the Total Conversion for PC, played through GZDoom. 100% kills, 100% secrets (Max-Kill).

I agree, this map is not that good. But only reason I'm saying that is because I used to play GBA Doom and the controls made it pretty much impossible to get out of that big pit room with the 3 timed elevators
"It makes this room suck a lot less". Best compliment to any room, ever.
Doom PSX Forever!
I've always liked this map. d: Lots of tough fights and a pretty unique feel, not to mention the original music track is awesome. Then again, I tend to like really awkward combat spaces because they mess up my practiced routine.
Welcome back my good ol' buddy AltimaMantoid. I didn't think you'd be back this soon, lol. So how is that Phoenix Game working out for you?
I didn't dislike this map although on I do agree the donut elevator room is a pain in the arse
The funny thing is that the whole elevator crap was probably not specifically intended as an "improvement", it's just done due to memory constraints… original PSX port HATES super-high rooms and huge lifts, so they shortened the whole thing to make it take less memory. The fact that the result sucks less is just a nice bonus. 😀
I don't think this map is terrible, only merely "okay".
Edit: I forgot about all those 50 billion lost souls. Yeah, this map is a piece of shit.
Last time I played this level (Ph the PS3 version included with Doom 3 BFG Edition) it left me with no ammo for the next level. Ugh
Glad you're back! I'm kind of enjoy your precise comment about the stair elevators which is "suck less" (not better) in this version. And a question, are all the pain elementals removed from this version?
A pain in the ass to play this map on a gamepad.
I miss the music for this level. I could tell right from the start what the big changes would be and I agree, it improves the map.
Personally I would have used different demons than just defaulting to imps and cacodemons everywhere.
FEERST. also, Cheer up, Altima! you still have the rest of DooM 2!
