The opening sequence of this game is one of, if not the best ever. The music, as well, has that same Pavlovian response mentioned in the Lunar: SSSC review. Even listening to the song(s) in this review give me the feels.
I can't wait till you go after Lunar Dragon Song. Such an AWFUL game; who thought that making you take damage while running was a good idea!?
That game is the reason why the Lunar series lost its future!
Loved Lunar 1+2. I will always remember the good times i had with them. The characters and music were outstanding. But i prefer the Sega CD version of Lunar 2. With Lunar 1 its the exact opposite and Harmony was pointless to me. Oh and both Lunars on Sega CD had random battles.
While they improved silver star on saturn and ps. They really fucked up this one, which is why I would still advice to play this on sega cd.
MY FAVORITE RPG EVER AAAAGHHH
Great review!
Man, i never played this game but my bro did and he'd yell out if a cut scene was starting. Amazing series. Wouldn't it be amazing though if theymade a third one! 😀
I want to play it but I can't find it at a reasonable price. Why don't they release a digital version?
RIP Studio Alex. In 2003, the company filed a lawsuit against Game Arts over secondary creator copyrights to Lunar: The Silver Star, but were sued in turn for damages in regard to trouble over the Magic School Lunar theatrical animation, and lost. Studio Alex bankrupted thereafter.
This game is just so personal to me. It's the first ever rpg I've ever played.
dragon song sucked ball sacks
I miss working designs. lunar, grandia, alundra, amoungst others with best voice acting of the generation.
Gonzo's Animation was so gorgeous in these games. But that's what happens when you get a award winning studio to do your cutscenes in your game.
The Lunar series is amazing!! Great review man, but one correction it came with a paper map (no annoying fumes this time) XD
Great stuff…thanks super derek… Always like your works and the way you present yourself as mellow as the yellow drink… You have good taste in RPGs and as a matter of fact I have been yearning for Lunar 2…lo and behold I have just purchased me a copy this past Thursday (6-23-2017) … So far I'm enjoying it!
I need to play this game
They should make lunar 3 for ps4 😔
Unfortunately to this day (to my Knowledge) Luna 1/2 was never released in Europe
Lunar needs to make a comeback their hasn't been anything since dragon song
Hey super derek, do you think you can ever review the "legend of heroes" games. Specifically the "trails series" i don't think any video game franchise on this earth is more ambitious then that series in terms of narrative and story.
These are just great games. The first one is one of the only games that had me teary-eyed and the second had my stomach hurting from laughing–mainly, because Ruby reminds me of every jealous pet I've ever had lol. That little pink thing still cracks me up.
that Battle song theme made me sooo fucking Nostalgic that makes me think modern games just completaly suck compared to the classics
