total rip off
It depends on the games they have available. I love Final Fantasy 9 and that's the reason I still have my launch PS3 with backwards compatibility. It wasn't a terribly popular game (to my knowledge) and I highly doubt it would be on the service- rendering it mostly useless to me.
Paying full price for old games, just because they aren't playable on the system in any other way, is rediculous. Then they say you can only play them for a limited amount of time… come on guys. This system would be fantastic if the prices were fair. My favourite thing about pc gaming, is there is no gap in generations stopping you from playing all of your older games. With this system, sony should be able to match the experience pc gamers have enjoyed for years, but the prices should be similar to that on steam, gog, gmg ect.
"PlayStation Now Opening to Everyone" Everyone is NOT North America!
I dont think the prices are too bad although I dont like how there isnt a flat rate but most games on there is like 15 bucks for 90 days and to me thats just fine
I can go to a redbox and get a rental game for a whole day for $5 instead of only getting to play FOUR hours for $3…
PS Now is a scam and the irony that they requected Ea thing because the "value was not for PS" yet you over chager for a game that i can buy for 5 bucks and keep the games unline PS now streaming which sucks btw..acting all high and mighty yet they are worse about it, and i own a ps4.
I participated in the closed beta, and it was really good. So Im really looking forward to what Sony does with this.
im a 4 owner I dont like EAA or NOW. both seemed overpriced if it wasn't bad that both consoles are pushing Digital download [ no case, no booklet, not disc] and still charge you 60$ now service where you don't even own the game and pay twice what its worth for a fraction of the time you might own it if you were to buy it. i don't see why NOW could not be a PS4 free backward compatibility app / emulator then pay for games to keep as long as you have hard drive space Its a good idea but pricing is just to far off PS3 + 5 games 150ish or PSnow 5 games for 3 months
why don't they introduce ea access to Pc so less people pirate
Omg she is hotter than ign and gamespot news girls
I like it because its give u time to play and a time to end your game with out going to GameStop or get it from game fly because u got to pay ever mouth
This opens a whole new doorway for Backwards Compatibility…. =) This is what I'm hoping for: Did you buy a game on PSN for PS3 but have now made the conversion to PS4? Is the game you bought on PSNow? Then you can download your old games that you've bought and play them now on the PS4!!! =D too much to ask for? =P
I'll just wait til I can buy the games from PS Now. lol
Way over piced. Sony were not buying them were renting
Way over piced. Sony were not buying them were renting
If they make Legacy games available, that would literally be amazing, i could get back into some of my old favourites, but yeah one thing sony needs to do is really work on their pricing on account it is seriously expensive at the moment
I think if they had a flat subscription rate, it would be better. But for now its worth a try. Its really about givin their customers the opportunity to play their fav ps3 games that they may have sold or traded in, in order to get the ps4
Current pricing model is a joke
lol! Way to go! Fuck EA.
Sony are something else….. this doesn't present value? Ok explain how 1 year of EA Access for 30$ is not value and a 3 month rental of ONE GAME cost the same price but presents value? Sony are pathetic and funny part is I thought EA was worse.
hahahaha "…the kind of value playstation customers have come to expect." hahaha wow. Brown nosing Sony….. bet they wish there nose was a dick so they could fuck butts….
i don't really see why people fight over which console is better and if pc is better if it can game well isn't that all you wanti am a pc and console gamer and i laugh at fanboys
Not going to trade in my PS3 and games in the first place so why bother with paying extra money to play old games when these old games are getting cheaper by the day in second hand stores!
Personally I don't consider Playstation Now to be backwards compatibility. it is pretty much just re releasing the games for the new system. Backwards compatibility for me is is being able to take my PS3 game. placing it in my PS4, and having it work. like what you could do with the PS2 and PS one games. Don't get me wrong, I still think Playstation now is a really cool service, but calling a digital download of an older game "backwards compatibility" feels like an insult to me.
So, from the prices I saw, renting for long periods is a pretty good deal, while renting for small ones is a pretty terrible one.
Meh… As an Xbox gamer, I fully support EA Access and can't wait to get some of the later games EA will put on it. I want Xbox to also have a program like this, but fully subscription. I shouldn't have to pay $30 to rent a game. Anyway, it is a great idea by Sony, just would like to see Microsoft do something like it. Original Gears of War on Xbox One? I'd buy it.
Thank you Sony for rejecting EA's latest money grab. Their service would start with rentals and early access (and who really wants to play EA games early? They barely work when they get released), then special in-game items, then maps, modes, and eventually you would need their service to play online. Have we all forgotten about the online passes so soon? And if you let EA do this, every other game company would follow. Next thing you know you wouldn't be able to play any game without throwing the developer more money every month.
"[EA Access] does not bring the kind of value Playstation customers have come to expect."
Yes, because $6.00 to play one Playstation game for seven days is a MUCH better deal than paying five dollars a month or 30 dollars a year for unlimited access to four EA titles, with more coming in the future, free demos of new games that you get five days before the game is even released, and a 10% discount on all DLC for all the games.
Although, you could point out that Playstation Plus is pretty much like EA Access.
everybodys got to bitch about something
$30 to play old games for 90 days? Why wouldn't I just buy it and not have restrictions like that?
I don't see how people can say this is worse than EA Access PS Now can have every single Play Station game including EA games while EA Acess is EA only. Please explain to me how EA Access is the better service.
Title amendment: Opening to everyone (in North America).
It's fun to watch idiots defend the company of their choice even though neither EA nor Sony (or Microsoft) give a flying fuck about any one of you and your needs and wants, all they care about is your money…
Crazy prices to play games
For the pricing I've heard I'd rather dig out my old PS1 and PS2 than pay for a game that is years old or I already own. Sorry Sony just not the best idea to have your customers pay for backwards compatibility.
If we can BUY the games for 30 I'd be fine with most of it. but only renting for 30? I'd rather not… Unless there's like a $5 2 week rental I don't know how much I'll be using this. If PS Plus included this or gave a large discount that would be great.
crazy pricing for old games. 2.99 for 4 hours is rediculous
pay money on a subscription/rental scheme for older games? rental…? Why not just sell them. Or better yet i could just use my ps2 and play a plethora of brilliant old games from ps1 and 2 and actually own the games 😐
Before they start introducing new things, they should fixed there app problem. My PS only has like 10 apps that are terrible. It's like they don't care about some regions 🙁
Boogie2988 made the best point towards PSNow. FFXIII: Lightning Returns is $20 for I believe a week. You can BUY the same the game and own it for roughly the same price on Amazon. Lower the prices significantly and then it can become a viable service.
They''d have to come down a hell of a lot to make it worth it. I already own all of the previous console games i'd like to play and refuse to pay more than a couple of bucks to rent it. They should've just made it backwards compatible with PS2 and PSX games; it couldn't have been that hard to implement
expected to release in the UK on the 27rd of julember 40000
You know what?. I have all four playstation consoles does anybody else?
I like how they release the games that people don't care about. Also make prices waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy lower
