Bought this today to play couch coop with my son. Fun game buy it
One criticism I give this is how it doesn't exploit DLC, ironically. They could have made DLC content like new characters, skins, stories, battle modes, etc. So much could have been done, yet they didn't do it. I mean, imagine if they do something like a DLC Orc character, or maybe a paladin, a full on assassin, bard, beast tamer, etc. Wouldn't that actually be cool?
Castle Crashers sort of counts as my favourite, but if that's not fantasy enough for you, then I'd say Shadow over Mystara is pretty close.
I gotta admit, I clicked just because of the thumbnail.
Boobs
Salior Moon on the Super Nes count? That game was a solid title back then 😄!
An absolutely epic game! One of my all time favourites.
U can't equip weapons on your aà partners?
Bloody zombie was great also. Mother Russia bleeds is really good too.
Aside from Dragon's Crown, my other favorite fantasy beat 'em ups are Guardian Heroes and Castle Crashers. Both beat 'em up RPG's like Dragon's Crown is. For more traditional stuff, I think Mother Russia Bleeds is the best street style beat 'em up ever made.
Love this game. Looks amazing in 4K, especially coming from my old save on my OLED Vita.
I want MOMOHIME as a DLC character
Can I enjoy this game even if I'm not an incel?
The men that complain about "massive proportions" obviously are gay, not breast lovers, or have partners that are "without". The women that complain are "without", and they have NOTHING to say about the unrealistic depictions of male characters. They are both full of it, and most likely not even game developers/players or artists/illustrators. If they knew women created these characters, would they open their stinking traps? F*CK NO! To these hypocrites, "objectification" is only when men do it. They can whine and cry to the four winds, they will be ignored and laughed at.
Great review. I’m enjoying the remaster quite a bit. Hopefully the ability to play with Vita and PS3 players will keep the servers full. Cross platform play worked wonders for games like Helldivers.
My favorite fantasy beat em’ up is Guardian Heroes. It’s a shame that more games in the genre haven’t mimicked it’s style of gameplay. Also a shame that it has only seen release on platforms where it has sold poorly.
OMG. 4:15… I didn't know I could do that with that magic finger. Opening chests, yes, but those shiny things? 😮 Thanks! haha
is anyone bothered for the price?
For me personally it's a toss-up between Odin Sphere and Golden Axe 2
It's a shame they didn't do more like Odin's Sphere, they fucking re-vamped and added so much shit to that game, though it was originally PS2
I own the ps3 version of the game. Liked what I saw of it, but soon after I got it my ps3 started giving me problems and I've just been playing other systems. I might get this new version for that reason, but I also HAVE TO get another ps3 as I don't want to lose my love for it and my library of ps3 games. Guess the only other fantasy brawler I've played would be the golden ax series. Like those games alright. Another top notch video, keep up the good work!
This game is must have
I am playing through Odin Sphere right now! I love the game. It's another by Vanillaware, although the story is… pretty terrible. But it's fun, visually beautiful and has cute characters and fun gameplay. Did you know the character designer for Dragon's Crown had a (verbal) fight through twitter with a critic, because said critic criticized the Sorceress's ridiculous proportions? I wish Vanillaware released on PC despite that, haha.
does this version run 60fps?
Not fantasy per se, but I always liked Cadillacs and Dinosaurs.
Wow, this looks amazing! Too bad it doesn't make it to PC 🙂 But as you mentioned Wulverblade & Coffee Crisis I might have to check those out!
Sadly there are'nt many fantasy beat'em ups , wich is a shame…i think it's a genre with so much potential! It's not fantasy but my favorite beat'em up is Fight'n Rage, it's on steam, i suggest you check it out if you like this genre.
These aren’t exactly fantasy beat em ups, but Dahna on the Mega Drive and Legendary Axe II on the TurboGrfx are two great fantasy hack n slashes.
Guardian heroes for me, without a doubt.
filthy luca out of 10
D&D The Tower of Doom!
The King of Dragons is my favorite. I like the two D&D games quite a bit, but King’s simplicity made it a more enjoyable experience for me.
Hands down the dungeons and dragons beat em ups, also golden axe, although I might sit down and play dragon’s crown pro if I ever get a PS4
My choice is a tie between Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder and both of the Dungeons & Dragons Capcom arcade games, I just really enjoyed playing all of those.
Did you ever pick up Way of the Passive Fist?
Guardian Heroes and Knights of the Round. Odin Sphere is one of my favorite games, but I consider that more of an RPG. I still need to play Volgarr the Viking, although I'm not sure that counts, what with its emphasis on precise platforming.
Lol it actually is this and the chronicles of mystaria games. … and is odins sphere a beat Em up… kind of feels like one or does that fall more under action rpg.
This game didn't really need many new features to get people to buy it.
Would probably say Guardian Heroes if that counts. Right there with it would be the D&D cap com games.
