It’s finally here! Sorry for the long wait everyone, the next part should be up in decent time considering I have already recorded voice over for it. The Twitter: …

Estoy empezando una guía de persona con subtitulo al Español por si le interesa alguien… Dejo link https://youtu.be/5-TPeSUZeNU Si veo que va gustando subiré mas vídeos y juegos que queráis
Fun fact: In the Japanese release of the PSP remake of Persona, only Philemon is voiced in the movies, all the other characters are silent with subtitles. The Western release gives all the characters in the cutscenes voices.
Saying that they whitewashed the characters for the American version is pretty ironic considering that basically the opposite happened to Masao! And it is a little redundant to say he became an African-American male… he was always male, they may have given him a race lift, but not a sex change, haha!
Skip to 4:49 if you're interested in the Revelations review and not so much the entire SMT retrospective surrounding it. Sadly, it shows off the PSP version almost exclusively because acknowledging the Americanized version as anything more than utter trash is beyond purists and fanboys, despite many many Americans (god forbid) prefering the PS1 release which was perfectly awesome, including all localization changes. Or maybe it's just easier to get a hold of and record. Anyyyways… The GUI, sounds, and voices were all much better in the PS1 version, which had a very artistic style and darker presentation. Only weeaboo purists think the PS1 version was shit. Acknowledging the SMT origins and spinoffs, but not really giving the American Revelations it's props is horseshit. Play the PS1 version. It will have a stronger impact.
the game sounds boring af tbh
will you cover the spinoff persona 4 games like arena and dancing all night
I enjoy you retrospectives for many of my favourite series. Would love you to do Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and even Zelda. I'd say Trails, but you've got reviews out already for them.
I can't wait until you talk about Persona 4 Golden.
Fun fact, the dungeon crawling gameplay type in this and Megami tensei were the biggest influences for Etrian odyssey
ATTENTION There is a version of the PSP that is fan patched to use the old music. It also fixes the load time among other. Just google Persona PSP music patch.
In reality the first Persona game is really SMT if. Which sadly has never seen a western release. Keep hoping it will one day with how popular Persona and to a lesser degree SMT has gotten in recent years outside of Japan.
I played through the PS1 original and really enjoyed it. I have yet to play the PSP version. I have heard the soundtracks on both and I agree that the PS1 version's better. I want to play the PSP version because that it's more closer to how it's supposed to be without the westernized translation of the original. But the soundtrack just sounds so out of place.
alas the conection with the SMT main line lies in SMT IF, which is (debatable) Persona "0"
Can you link the MegaTen timeline chart?
I didn't notice the hidden message in the opening, so I guess I can't wait for the Digital Devil Saga review and, if you do like it, the Persona 4 review.
So many spinoffs involved in the line of (Shin) Megami Tensei games. 😛 4:18 And after over 4 minutes of back story to get everyone caught up, let's start the actual retrospective! Hehe. 6:15 Ahh, gotta love that American-ization… 'Murica! 😛 Haha. I do have to agree that this game hasn't aged very well. I did enjoy it overall, but I can see most people putting it down before seeing the game through to completion. Maybe something that only the hardcore RPG nerds out there can fully appreciate. 😛 Excellent review! 🙂
Great retrospective. I completed the main quest in Persona 1 for the PSP. It's a flawed game and I definitely found a mix of enjoyment and frustration. Still I felt my time with it was worthwhile all things considered.
Oh man i remember last year asking for this! I totally forgot about this channel. Thanks for bringing me back in!
Lol still no smt if fan translation tho rip
O sh*t you totally cater to my taste in games m8
One of the most detailed and fair review I've seen in a long time. Great work, man!
A criticism I do have is your pronunciation on certain Japanese words. A bit distracting to be honest.
How long until your next entry in this retrospective? Hopefully on Persona 2? I know Eternal Punishment came "first" in the US, but it'd be a shame to skip Innocent Sin.
One thing that always f*cks me over in an RPG is forgetting to buy new equipment. But then I have so much money saved up that I buy all the best shit halfway through.
Excellent. Looking forward to this retrospective.
I recommend to anyone watching this to go give the Revelations soundtrack a listen. It's simply brilliant.
Six main entries? I thought there were only five? SMT I, II, Nocturne, Strange Journey and IV.Or are you counting the upcoming SMT IV Final as well?
Also why is Catherine on that infograph chart of SMT games at the beginning?
I wish this one would get a straight up remake using the P4 or 5 engines.
1:54 I'm not trying to be that guy, but its KYUUyaku Megami Tensei. Actually, overall, please work on pronunciation of names, if you're allowing constructive criticism. Like, I know who you're talking about, but someone else may not. Nice review, though.
I can't wait for Darren to give Dancing All Night a review of this caliber; it will be glorious.
great review!!
Another great review. I still would love to playthough Persona 1 but I'll have to go with the PSP version if I want it physically as the PS1 version wasn't available in Europe.
This is a good one! Nice review! Im currently going through SMT Nocturne and DDS, and hoping to soon start on the Persona series too 🙂
Why not make a podcast channel on youtube? I listen to podcasts at work but it's hard to find gewd ones I'm only into 4 atm
